He got fired for copying recipe files and administrative files. A year later Qdoba opens . . . From my experience as an employee at Qdoba there is a problem with consistency at Chipotle. Some places have fantastic food while others have problem with the texture of their meats. Qdoba, admitedly, has a more consistent taste profile from coast to coast due to the manner in which food is distributed to each store. Having tried both in several areas of the country I have to pin my favorite as Qdoba. The queso is the best and the tortilla soup/gumbo is the best thing I have ever eaten. Pete's actually uses large spoons to mix all the ingredients together before they wrap the burrito. Both were founded in Colorado and not that many years apart. Out in Colorado, where both chains were formed, the differences between the two are slight. However, when I had to move to the Baltimore area, the differences were huge. I almost couldn't chew the seemingly grade Q beef that Chipotle was trying to serve in D.C.
