I Can't Do It.

Have you ever left your house with every intention of going to a certain restaurant and then got half way there and completely changed your mind?

I did last night. We had this whole plan to eat at Moe's and put together this sweet video blog comparing Moe's to Tijuana and Chipotle. (You can read my take on Tijuana here.)

I used to eat at Moe's all the time, on a weekly basis. The last time I ate there was March 30, 2007....shortly after my last visit I discovered Chipotle and I have never been motivated to go back again.

Last night my wife and I had the conversation that every couple has on a Saturday night: I say, "Where do you want to go tonight?" she says, "No, you decide." I say, " No, really it's up to you."

I managed to convince her that we should go to Moe's because we went to Tijuana last week and it would be good to compare. She agreed and we checked out their website to see if anything has changed in the past year that we needed to be prepared for.

We left our house, stopped by Target and then started talking. We couldn't do it. We can't at at Moe's because we know it will never be as good as Chipotle. Why spend $15 at Moe's for an attempt at a decent meal when we can go to Chipotle? You can watch our pointless banter below:

Will I ever at at Moe's again? Probably....if someone else is buying.

  4. Alright, first off I have to say that video was hilarious! I hope I was one of the people you were talking about at the end.

Now thats said I have a few problems with your reasoning that Moe's is no good. I go to Moe's every Monday for the amazing MOE'S MONDAY...which is today I might add. Now when I go to Moe's I have the time of my life. This is maybe the fact because I go with some funny people.

Now at my Moe's they know me and my friends (Adam and Liana) by name. The woman at the register even shares personal stories about her family with us now. The food is AMAZING and when it is made by the people you see every week...it's even better.

Now would I go to Moe's if it was not Moe's Monday? The sad answer would be no...They are a bit over priced and who would want to pay more then 5$ when every Monday you get such a great deal.

I think you should bring Rachel to Moe's Monday with us on night here in orlando...and I will show you the way of the Moe's.

  5. Reasons why Moes will never ever compare to chipotle:

    1. The rice
    - Moe's rice is deceiving. They brown it to make it look like it's whole wheat and then they add black pepper, why? I have no idea. Furthermore, these techniques don't do anything for the flavor. The rice is more dry in the end.

    2. The guacamole
    - First off, it's warm. I don't know about everyone else, but I like my guac cold. Second, when they spoon it out, it's so sticky and globby that after they put it on your burrito they have to smooth is out with the back of the spoon to make it look normal. It's just a weird process.

    3. The chips
    - They are decent. But they aren't anything special. They are lightly salted, and that's it. Chipotle's lime flavor on there chips is not only unique, but delicious.

    4. The salsa
    - They shouldn't call what they have "salsa." It's cut up tomatoes with absolutely no kick.

    5. The vegetables
    - They don't look or taste fresh. The lettuce on my burrito over the weekend was browning on the edges. And the tomatoes were overripe.

And that is my analysis of Moe's
