Ebar: Great Coffee. I'm Better Than You Service.

There are not many Nordstrom Ebar's out there.

With 10,000 Starbucks to choose from, why would you walk through a department store in a mall to get better tasting coffee? Chances are, you won't. It's not fast, it's not easy and it costs more than Starbucks - how is that possible? I suppose the only logic behind their pricing strategy is they expect to have the rich folk who shop at Nordstrom to wander out to Ebar to get a $5 mocha. From my observation, I think the major source of sales comes right from the Nordstrom employees.

The amazing thing is - Ebar has better coffee than Starbucks. A lot better. Why? Because their espresso is ground fresh in store right before they brew it into your cup. They have taken the art of espresso and redefined it.

There is only one problem - only angry people work there. Good luck getting first name recognition after repeat business or having one of the servers remember your favorite drink. Chances are that your service experience will consist of brief eye contact and a smug grunt after you order. I continually get the impression that the staff at Ebar thinks that I've interrupted their day by stopping by to get coffee. I'm sorry Ebar that I give you $5 for steamed milk and ground espresso.

Give me great coffee, but please give me even better service.

I'll Drive 20 minutes for Mimi's Cafe

I used to go to Perkins and Bob Evans and Denny's.

I don't anymore.

Maybe you remember a time when you visited these restaurants to have a heartwarming breakfast or and early lunch. That time has come and gone. With outdated decor, poor food quality and average service. These Day Time restaurants have missed the latest craze on getting a decent breakfast.

Enter Mimi's Cafe.

I first tired this phenomenon in Orlando, FL near Millenia Mall, and have been addicted ever since. With an outstanding decor package, Mimi's serves the best quality food in an atmosphere that feels like home.

Yesterday, my wife and I drove over 20 minutes to get a taste of our "local" Mimi's Cafe. Why? Because the food is revolutionary. Here the eggs are hot and cooked to order. The breakfast potatoes - taste better then french fries. The service is prompt, effecient and pleasent.

Mimi's Cafe has finally solved the breakfast equation.

If you have Mimi's within 20 minutes, it's worth the drive.

A Green Eggs State of Mind

The story of Green Eggs and Ham revolves around one friend attempting to convince another to eat green eggs and ham. After a variety of tactics, he finally prevails and his friend eats green eggs and ham --- aah the power of word of mouth marketing. We will believe anything one of our friends tells us is good.
